Welcome to Randolph County!
We believe in community ... in fairness and old-fashion values ... and ... in pride of accomplishment. We practice a work ethic born of generations in agribusiness, mining and manufacturing excellence. We understand how to help business succeed. Randolph County benefits from a large and well-trained workforce. Our secondary schools and the Red Bud Campus of Southwestern Illinois College help us adapt to emerging technologies. Our location at the confluence of the Kaskaskia and Mississippi Rivers offers unique and low-cost shipping options unavailable in most communities. Randolph County has ubiquitous highway options including proximate Interstate access and the Chester Bridge provides a route over the Mississippi, avoiding the hassle of crossing in a major metro area. Rail shipping options include the Canadian National, Mo Pac, the Illinois Central and the great Union Pacific. Grow it. Make it. Mine it. Then ship it ... anywhere in the world from Randolph County.
Randolph County is a beautiful place to live ... to work ... and to enjoy life. You see smiles and handshakes, and a person's word is still as good as gold. We have dozens of churches in several denominations within the community, many of them more than 100 years old. Visit the Church of the Immaculate Conception on Kaskaskia Island, one of the oldest churches in Illinois. There are St. Peter's and St. Paul's Lutheran Churches near Wine Hill in southern Randolph County, and many others throughout our community.
We believe in recreation and fun and you can enjoy a variety of activities year-round in Randolph County. Play golf at one of three challenging courses. Randolph County is home to the World Shooting&Recreation Complex at Sparta. Enjoy a peaceful time of fishing at the Randolph County State Recreation Area or at Baldwin Lake. Fishing and boating is outstanding on the Kaskaskia and Mississippi Rivers. If you like nature and hiking, there are several parks to explore. You can swim, ski, walk, run, watch youth sports ... even attend a Cardinals baseball game in nearby St. Louis. There are several camping facilities in the county including the new Confluence Heritage Park and camping area where the Kaskaskia River meets the Mississippi.
